Obituary
Bruce Hunter McClocklin
In the early morning hours of April 30th, Bruce passed away peacefully in his sleep. He was in his 81st year. His children feel both privileged and grateful to have shared in his final hours at Christianson Village. It was there that he received wonderful care during the last seven years.
Dad was predeceased by his parents, Ross and Norma McClocklin, and his wife Ruth McClocklin.
Bruce is greatly missed by his children Lori (Joszef) McClocklin, Pat (Glenn) Taylor, Doug (Norma) McClocklin, grandchildren, Hudson, Cole, Sophia. His brothers Brian and Robert McClocklin, as well as in-laws John, Susan, and Hugh (Danelle).
Bruce was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He worked in the family hearing aid business in Winnipeg, and CN rail. He married Ruth in 1966, and a year later they welcomed their first child. He raised three children and moved to B.C. in the 1970’s following friends and family. He later settled in Port Alice, where he completed his apprenticeship in millwrighting. He and mom enjoyed an active social life there, which included membership in the local curling club. Additionally, they established lifelong friendships with the Lacey and the Broad family.
In the 1980’s he relocated to Gibsons, where he and my mom were employed by CANFOR until retirement. It was there that he enjoyed renovating and gardening projects. He took pleasure in carpentry, and woodworking projects, as well as riding his motorcycle.
Dad could be described as a family man, proud father, and dedicated husband. He is dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Bruce will be remembered in a private family gathering.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society
