Suddenly on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at the age of 87 at Hospice North Hastings in Bancroft, ON. Beloved father of Marianne (Matt) Yeatman of Bowmanville, Carolyn Brown (Greg Cooper) of Bancroft, Lorie Brown of Belleville and David Brown (Lori Longden) of Tampa Florida. Brother of Debbie (Lyle) Trojan. Loving grandfather of David (Sharyn) Yeatman, Katie Yeatman (Jamie Parry), Andrea Yeatman (Steve Dickie), Sara Cooper (Dan McParland), Jordan Cooper, Dana Cooper, Keegan Brown, Ethan Brown. Cherished great-grandfather of Elle, Maya, Leah, Alyse, Lauren, Brayden, Caleb, Lincoln, Renley, Nora and Owen.
Dick was born in St Catharine’s, Ontario and grew up on Almond street in Merriton. He went to Queen’s University at Kingston and graduated with a Chemical engineering degree in 1957. (He was able to give an iron ring to two of his grandchildren)
Using his engineering skills, he was transferred around Canada with his wife, Patricia (Arnold) and four kids – Toronto, Innis Lake, Calgary, Nobleton, Montreal, Bolton (hobby farm) and Caledon east. He eventually was president of Hand’s chemical making fireworks and explosives, setting off the displays to music. He then moved to Brampton, Milton and Belleville.
He was always happy watching his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He was called upon to fix, “McGuiver”, tinker or repair any and everything. He enjoyed travelling, curling and when unable to use the broom, watched curling on TV. Dick was a CFL fan and was very happy to see the Toronto Argonauts win the Grey cup (November 2022).
Dick had noted medical problems for the last few years but had a new diagnosis of a rapidly spreading lung cancer 2 weeks before his death. He was in Hospice North Hastings for the last week of his life and died one week short of his 88th birthday.
Predeceased by his Mother, Marion (Stothart) Brown, father William Brown and brother David William Brown.
