Our lovely Brittany died suddenly on January 16, 2022, at the age of 30. She will be deeply missed by her parents, Bill and Pearl; and her beloved sister, Sabrina; as well as the love of her life, Kyle Spalding; his parents, Glen and Jacqui; sister, Georgia; and grandmother, Dawn. Also left to mourn are her many aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Brady, Spalding, Johnstone, and Duncan families. Brittany was predeceased by her grandparents, Gerald and Fay Johnstone and Charles and Libby Brady.
Brittany was born in Edmonton on July 28, 1991. She was an integral part of her community, attending Belgravia Elementary, McKernan Junior High, and Strathcona High School. She was an avid athlete in soccer and track, competing at the national level in high jump. Brittany loved music, dining out, fashion, holidays, and quiet moments in the backyard with her childhood dogs, Bingo and Jack. Brittany had many friends; and was a “little sister” to many of Sabrina’s friends. But, most of all, Brittany wanted to be with Kyle and their two beautiful dogs, Charlie and Audrey.
Brittany was a young woman of many talents. She graduated as a Practical Nurse from NorQuest College then gained her Bachelor of Business Administration from NAIT. She worked tirelessly against COVID-19 while working with Alberta Health Services and had just started a new job with Alberta Justice.
Brittany was a profoundly intelligent woman who was beautiful inside and out. She and Kyle shared an unconditional love and planned to meet the world together. Their wedding was to take place on October 1, 2022, in Kelowna and she had just said: “yes to the dress.”
We will forever miss Brittany’s love of family and friends, her voice of reason, her humour and laughter, her kindness, and what she could offer to the world.
Brittany, we will love you forever and never forget you.
Donations to honour Brittany and her legacy can be made to Epilepsy Canada.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Connelly-McKinley Downtown. Connelly-McKinley is participating in the Restriction Exemption Program, meaning that all attendees are required to show photo identification and proof of full vaccination via QR code. The service will also be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person. Please click here to view the livestream.
