Brian Leavy 2022

Obituary of Brian Leavy
LEAVY: Brian Peter
Brian Peter Leavy passed away at his home in London on Friday, February 18th, 2022 at the age of 75. For the last 6 years Brian has suffered from a rare neurodegenerative disease called Multiple System Atrophy(MSA). It took his mobility, his independence and his voice but not his spirit. Even though he was fighting a battle he knew he couldn’t win, he never complained.
Brian was born in Warrington, England in on Christmas Day in 1946 and emigrated to London, Ontario in 1968 where he met his soon to be wife, Marianne. They were married for 52 years. He attended Althouse teachers college in 1969-70 and began his teaching career at Ridgetown District High School in September and taught for 31 years.
He is survived by his wife Marianne, of London, daughter Jennifer (Simon) Smith, of London, sons Darren (Lori) of Kitchener, David of Chatham and Andrew (Raquel) of Bermuda.
He will be missed by his 5 grandchildren, Aydia, Connor and Caden Smith, Isla Leavy and Mason Leavy.
Brian is also survived by his younger brothers, David (Veronica) in New Zealand and Don(Teresa)in England and their families.
During Brian’s retirement years, Brian and Marianne enjoyed many years of travel and visiting family until 2016 when we received the grim diagnosis and moved back to London.
A special thank you to the PSW’s at SEHealth, especially Lisa and the palliative care doctors, especially Dr. Jill, who took such good care of Brian in the last months.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a family celebration at a later date.
