Brian “Brett” Babando
1973-2022
Brian “Brett” Babando, 48, of Riverview,
passed away peacefully on February 3, 2022, at Spencer’s
Nursing home.
Brett was born on March 18, 1973, the adopted son of Brian
Babando and Judith de Groot (Babando, Rankin) of
Riverview.
Brett was a creative and adventurous person. As a young man,
Brett enjoyed the arts and had a deep fondness for painting with
acrylics. He will be fondly remembered for his love of movies and
music, as well as his many artistic talents. As a teenager, you would
always find him gallivanting outdoors with his friends. Summers were
spent hiking in the woods, ending with campfires on the beach. Winters
were spent bombing down black diamond ski trails trying to be the
first friend to the bottom. He also spent many happy hours
volunteering with the Moncton Search and Rescue. In his twenties,
Brett left home for a cross-Canada adventure. He met lots of new
people, explored areas of rugged natural beauty, and experienced fun
and freedom. By his early thirties, Brett’s
Huntington’s disease had progressed to such an extent, that
he needed constant care. Brett lived at the Alouette Special Care home
for eight years followed by Spencer’s Nursing home for eight
years. He was shown love, dignity, and respect by his Nursing staff.
His family is grateful to the staff of Spencer’s for the
great care they took in looking after Brett. They were like Family to
him.
He will be deeply missed by his Mother Judi de Groot
(Babando, Rankin) his three siblings, Brandi Babando, Ben Babando
(Angele), and Brittani Jessen (Nils); and treasured nieces and
nephews, Emilia, Rocco (Babando), Raphael, Melodie (Doucet). He will
also be missed by his close friends, Stefan Mitrega, and Myles Smith.
He is remembered fondly by all his extended family, as well
as the Riverview Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in
which Brett was a member.
Brett was predeceased by his loving Father, Brian
Babando.
Funeral services will be held virtually. Please contact the
family for details. Interment will be held at the Fair Haven Cemetery,
Moncton, NB, at a later date.
