Obituary
SYMONDS, Bradford Clyde “Baffie”– 91, Centreville, passed away at home on November 27, 2022. Bradford “Baffie” was born in Clark’s Harbour, the second son of the late Bradford Sr. and Olive (Smith) Symonds. Baffie started fishing at the the young age of 12 and never stopped (except for a short time in the Coast Guard 101 at Clark’s Harbour). Realizing his love of the ocean and captaining his own vessel, he returned to fishing and never looked back. He owned his own seiner, the Pubnico Gemini, his own lobster rigs; Tanya Marie, Kurt & Kylie, Twin Sons I & II, and finally the Capt Baff. In the words of his grandson, Aaron, ‘he’s a legend… and could sail a boat anywhere’. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jane (MacKinnon); his twin sons, Kylie (Suzanne), Kurt; daughters, Sonia (Harold), Kathy, Tanya; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; step-children, Jennifer (Wayne), Carol, Shaun (Carla), Paul (Paula); 13 step-grandchildren; sister, Lorraine; youngest brother, Dana; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by four infant siblings; brothers, Herbert, Jack; step-son, Eric; and his precious daughter (and card playing partner), Wanda. The family would like to take this time to give a special ‘thank you’ to Leisa and Rhonda who went above and beyond with their compassionate care and became like family. There will be a visitation held, Tuesday, from 6-8 pm at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, where the funeral service will take place on Wednesday, November 30, at 2 pm with Rev Shaun Hatfield officiating. Interment to follow in the Centreville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Seal Island East Side Preservation Society, VON or any charity of choice.
