It is with great sadness that the family of Boyd Reginald Nowe, 90 of Centre announces his passing on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg.
Born in Back Centre, he was the son of the late Morton and Kathleen (Nowe) Nowe.
Boyd was a 45 year employee at National Sea Products, Lunenburg, cutting fish in the wet fish department at the age of 15 and becoming a supervisor and forklift instructor.
An avid outdoorsman, Boyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, cutting wood on his woodlot and working around his property. When not outside, Boyd spent many hours in his workshop, building punts and making furniture for family and friends, as well as smoking salmon.
Boyd was a lifetime member of the Rod and Gun Club, the Trappers Association of Nova Scotia and the Wildlife Federation of Nova Scotia. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, First South where he sang in the church choir and male choir and he will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched.
Boyd is survived by his daughter, Jane (Joseph) Wentworth; Wolfville; grandson, Paul (Alison Keefe), Sunnyvale, California; sisters, Joan Feener, Linda Wentzell both of Back Centre, Janet (Ray) Jones, Salisbury, N. B. and many nieces and nephews.
Boyd was predeceased by his wife, Blanche; sister, Dorothy and brothers, Morris, Cedric and Eric.
A special thank- you to the staff at Harbour View Haven for their continued care and compassion during Boyd’s time there, as well as to the emergency staff at South Shore Regional Hospital.
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. Memorial service to celebrate Boyd’s life will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, First South, Rev. Rick Pryce, officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Sunny Valley Cemetery, Centre.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, seating at the church is limited. If you wish to attend, please call the funeral home at 902-634-3942. Masks will be required.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or to any other charity.
