Bonnie Giddens 2022

Bonnie’s Obituary
Giddens, Bonnie Lee (Harroun) – 66, Wentworth. Friends and family are mourning the sudden loss of one of our own. Bonnie Giddens passed away at home on Sunday, April 17, 2022. Our hearts are broken yet we must take comfort in celebrating her life and give thanks to her for making our lives much richer. As the Constituency Assistant for Colchester North for 22 years, it was Bonnie’s pleasant voice, her beautiful smile and her caring manner that will be remembered by thousands of residents who reached out to the MLA office and who were received with nothing but concern, kindness and support. Bonnie was meticulous in her office responsibilities and her knowledge of all Government departments, programs and services was outstanding. She will be remembered in many ways, a loving daughter, a caring wife, a tireless worker and a fun-loving skier. Bonnie and Hal shared many special moments and worked as a team in their greenhouse, their vegetable garden, their blueberry field, their road-side stands and their beautiful property. Bonnie was an avid and exceptional gardener. Her “green thumb” transformed their property with eye-catching color that captured the attention and envy of many. She was artistic, athletic, talented and creative, a bit of an entrepreneurial spirit, and she was never idle. Bonnie loved nothing more than challenging the slopes at Ski Wentworth each winter. Her athletic ability and her determination to compete allowed her to ski with the best, and she did. Many friendships were formed at the Hill and she will be greatly missed by her skiing friends. Bonnie loved her dogs, they were her family, and she often spoke of running them across the blueberry field and down to the river, even when black bears were often sited in that same field. At the same time Bonnie lived her life on her own terms, strong-willed, determined, meticulous, honest, proud, caring, hard-working and fearless. She was truly a country girl, enjoyed rural living and was proud to call Wentworth her home. She is survived by her mother, Betty (Myatt) Harroun; husband, Harold Giddens; stepchildren, Jane and Jason; 4 step-granddaughters. She was predeceased by her father, Ronald Harroun. A time to celebrate Bonnie’s life will be held from 2-4 p.m. Friday, April 22 in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Oxford. Donations may be made to Hope for Wildlife.
