Obituary
In loving memory of Robert Edmund Dillman (Bob), a long time resident of Manning, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 6, 2022 in Manning, AB at the age of 85 years after a life well lived.
We take comfort in knowing Bob is united with his parents, Anna Marie and Ed Dillman; brothers, Henry, Clem, and Kenneth; brother in law, Wilfred West and nephew, Dean Dillman.
Left to cherish Bob’s memory are brothers, Lawrence (Edna), Arthur (Irene), Doug (Sheila), Fred (Lydia) and Dave (Anndrea); his 3 sisters, Dorothy West, Christina Dillman, Margaret (Gordon) Bisgrove; sister in law, Irene Dillman as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Throughout his life, Bob always enjoyed “getting away from it all” and found peace in the trees. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews, panning for gold, reading history books, driving side roads and tending to his garden.
Bob worked his entire life operating heavy equipment. He worked for his fathers construction business, Alberta Forestry Services and for local contractors right up until he was 82 years of age.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, aides, palliative care and all of the staff at the Manning Hospital for the caregiving, comfort and compassion they brought to Bob and visiting family members and friends.
In accordance with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest at a small, private family event. No formal service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held in Manning at a later date.
If family and friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to Palliative Care at the Manning Hospital.
