Blanche LeGresley, 101 years and 5 months, formerly of
Moncton, passed away on Monday November 28, 2022 at Landry Pavilion of
Faubourg du Mascaret in Moncton. Born in Shediac Bridge, she was the
daughter of the late Amédée and Anna (Poirier)
Gallant.
Educated at the convent of Bouctouche, Blanche worked for the
French newspaper L’Évangéline as an accountant
where she met her future husband, Léandre, a native of
Grande-Anse. She was widowed at the age of 35 with five young
children. After Léandre’s death, she resumed her position
at L’Évangéline. Being a positive woman, she
liked to organize trips with her friends and remained curious about
reading. Devoted to her family of five children, she realized the
importance of education, especially in French, like her
husband.
She will be greatly missed by her four children:
Gisèle Boudreau (Ernest) of Moncton,
Évangéline Gordon (Robert) of Edmonton, AB, Dr
Conrad LeGresley (Renée Desrochers) of Grand-Barachois, and
Murielle LeGresley (Peter Perley) of St. Stephen; her five
grandchildren: Michelle Gordon of Edmonton, AB, Dr Jovain LeGresley
(Amélie Normandin) of Cowansville, QC, Etienne LeGresley
(Jessica) of Canmore, AB, Danielle Perley of Montréal, QC,
and Céline Perley of Fredericton; as well as two
great-grandchildren: Alix LeGresley and Florent LeGresley of
Cowansville, QC; her sister, Louise Bourque (late Léo-Paul)
of Shediac Bridge; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Léandre; one
son, Gabriel “Gabi”; and five brothers: Raoul,
Amédée, Tilmon, Roger and Robert.
The funeral mass will be celebrated in Grande-Digue in July
2023 and will be announced. Interment will be in parish cemetery. In
memory of Blanche, a contribution to the Nazareth House would be
appreciated. Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of
Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton
(858-1900).
