It is with profound sadness that the family of Alfred “Blake” Palmer announces his passing on September 12, 2022 at York Care Centre.
Born in Ludlow, New Brunswick on November 5, 1935, Blake was the son of the late Harry Cecil and Alberta Grace (Dudley) Palmer.
Blake is survived by his children, Karla Palmer of Toronto, Ontario, Kelvin Palmer of Toronto, Ontario, Darren Palmer (Kathy) of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Danita Murphy (Rob) of Oshawa, Ontario, and Wallace Palmer (Julie) of Tupelo, Mississippi; grandchildren, Stefan, Christopher (Jeanette), Kristin (Alex), Shawn, Ashley, Nicholas, Jacob, Landon, and Foster; great-grandson, Greyson; sisters, Janet Eveleigh (Rev. James), Allie Lou Bunn (Richard); and special friend Kathy Millard, along with cousins, nieces and nephews.
Blake was pre-deceased by his wife of 39 years, Marie Agnes (Dinsmore) Palmer; sisters Viola Strachan (Davis), Zona Carson, Dora “Dee” Stillman, Carolyn Palmer, and brothers, Bruce and Gerald Palmer.
Growing up in the Miramichi, Blake had an appreciation for the outdoors which stayed with him until the very end. Blake was an avid clogger and square-dancer, often travelling throughout Canada and the US. Blake had a lengthy career with NB Tel, lasting 42 years. He always had a story with some wit and a smile. In retirement, his plan was to settle back in Ludlow, NB. He loved to have family get togethers in “Orchard Park” where his house proudly stood on the hill overlooking the Park. Along with dancing and story-telling, Blake was known for his “Papa Socks” which were knit with love. He was a loving father and Papa and will be missed by all.
Blake’s family would like to thank the staff of York Care Centre for the excellent care Blake received.
Arrangements have been entrusted to McAdam’s Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will take place at McAdam’s Funeral Home on October 1, 2022 at 10 a.m. with a reception, and then a private family interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation in the memory of Blake may be made to the York Care Foundation.
Promenade ‘til we get back home.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Blake
