Obituary
On Monday March 7th, 2022, at age 65 after a courageous battle with cancer the beloved Blaine Opperman passed away in Ottawa.
Blaine was born the 8th of ten children on January 3rd, 1957 in Boissevain, Manitoba, to Olive (nee Jones) and George Opperman. As a young boy he enjoyed the small town country life and running around outdoors with his friends and siblings like the fun and boisterous kid who became a man with the same endearing qualities. He was a quiet, but fun prankster who once stole his big sister’s tiger backpack before she moved to the big city to start a new life.
Later in life, with a sense of adventure and a staunch commitment to hard work embedded into him by his father, Blaine moved around the country to places like Calgary, Medicine Hat, and Toronto before settling down in Ottawa, where he worked at Polybrite International and met his dear partner Agnes, who lovingly took care of him in his final years.
Blaine is predeceased by sisters Marilyn, (1953), and Beverly, (2017), brother Philip, (2020), mother Olive (1985), and father George, (2010). He is survived by his brothers, Ron( Janice) of Killarney, Ruby( Fred) of Winnipeg, Sandra (Dennis) Moosomin, Sk., Garry (Lynne) of Winnipeg, Heather (Lorne) of Broadview, Patricia (David) Of Brandon, brother in law Marvin of Gainsborough, Sk., and girlfriend Agnes; his sons Chris and Damon and their families, among his numerous friends, and 19 nephews, and nieces. He was especially close to his niece Lisa. Multiple aunts, uncles and cousins.
Donations in Blaine’s memory can be made to your local homeless shelter, the Salvation Army or Alpha House Society.. The service to be held at a later date.
