Obituary of Bill DeMars
DeMars, William (Bill)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bill DeMars (Billy) on Friday, October 28th, 2022 at the age of 53.
Billy was the son of Bill & Margaret (nee Lee) DeMars of Port Lambton.
Remembered always by his wife and best friend, Michelle Clowater (nee Weaver) of Blenheim.
Proud father of Joey DeMars & Jonathan DeMars of Dresden.
Loving big brother of Liz Gibson (Lloyd) of Dresden and brother, Chris Murphy (Sue) of Port Lambton.
Missed by his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, his trucking family, his Wildwood family and many friends around the community.
Brother-in-law of Janice Weaver (John) of South Buxton.
Predeceased by his in-laws, Grant & Kay Weaver and brother-in-law, Rick Weaver.
Bill was a proud owner and operator for Laidlaw Trucking. Starting as a truck driver at the age of 18, Bill made many friends throughout his travels. Bill found his calling when he sat in his first truck and was devoted to his calling till the very end. He had his own built in GPS and could remember every exit, truck stop and every weigh scale on the road. He gladly shared his knowledge with anyone who asked. Bill was a giving, kind and self-less soul. Two of his greatest pride and joys were his sons, Joey & Jonathan. He loved to spend Sunday afternoons watching Nascar Races with Joey, making summer campfires with the boys and doing laundry on the weekends. He was such a great dad and did anything he could to make his boys happy when they were sad – “He always found a way to make us happy and was the best dad.”. Billy’s first love was mud, whether it was in the barn, in the field, early hours of the dawn, he could always find water and dirt to wreak havoc. Bill’s other love was his cell phone. He used his phone to show how much he cared about other people. This was his way of keeping everyone close, no matter where he was. Joey & Jonathon will always miss his daily check in phone calls. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Bill and his great big heart he shared with all. He was a Bright spark in our world and will be missed by many.
Family to receive friends on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham from 11:00 am until the Celebration of Billy’s life at 1:00 pm. Cremation to follow. The family ask those attending visitation to dress casually – Bill always said “Come as you are”.
His love of trucking will carry Bill through, even to his final resting place in Arnold Cemetery at a later date.
To honour Bill’s wishes, and in lieu of flowers, donations to a Trust to continue Bill’s life long passion of caring for his son Joey would be appreciated. More information can be provided by the Funeral Home.
