Bill Pretty Tuesday March 8th 2022

William “Bill” George Pretty
On the afternoon of Tuesday, March 8, 2022, our beloved Bill passed away at Parkland-on-Eglinton-West Residence, Etobicoke, Ontario at the age of 95 years. Born in Toronto, he often told stories that revealed the dramatic changes this city has undertaken as it has grown into the multicultural metropolis of the present day. He was a dedicated fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, and a skilled bowler, but will be most remembered for his love and adoration for the game of golf. He was a member of the Par 5 Golf Association, and always felt that a day on the golf course was a valuable lesson in humility, friendship, and the rewards of perseverance. He was the loving husband of Madeline for over 60 years, and a devoted father to Sharon (Ed), Marion (Brian), and the late Billy. The grandchildren remember his keen sense of humour, and include Jacquelyn (Andrew), Alexander, Tamara, Leah and Grace, and great-granddaughter Summer. He was the dear brother of Betty (Ian) MacDougall, the late Jean (Ed) O’Neill, and the late Robert Pretty. A private family service will take place and he will rest at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Woodbridge. For the assistance given to his son Billy, the family would appreciate donations to The Arc Ontario (ontarioarc.org/support). We are hugely grateful for the compassionate care provided by the Parkland Residence staff. Online condolences will be received at newediukfuneralhome.com
