Bill Helsel 2022

William “Bill” Edward Helsel, of Port Lambton and formerly of Oxtongue Lake, passed away peacefully with family by his side at Bluewater Health in Sarnia on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at the age of 79. Bill is the son of the late Elizabeth Grace (Cousins) Helsel. Beloved husband of Janet Helsel (Reaume) for 50 years. Cherished father of Becky Helsel and grandfather of Mabel-Anne. Brother of Judy Richardson (Merv) and the late Maryann Fewer (Tom). Bill and Janet owned and operated Helsel’s General Store in Oxtongue Lake for many years. Bill also drove delivery for Canada Post in the Dwight and Oxtongue Lake areas. Bill and Janet loved travelling to Club TRYP in Cayo Coco, Cuba for their annual vacation. Whether at the store or on the mail route Bill always had a smile for everyone. Bill’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Lebert, Dr. McSweeney, the VON Nurses, and the Palliative Care Team involved in his care during the past few months. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg, 519-627-3231. Cherished stories and tributes may be left for the family at www.CavanaghFuneralHome.ca If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer society.
