Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce that Bill (Charles William) LaMoy, age 83, of Cornwall, Ontario, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022, at the Revera Heartwood Long Term Care Home with family at his side. He was the son of the late Wilbur Eugene II and Patricia Eleanor (Gratto) LaMoy.
He is survived by his wife Ruby LaMoy (nee Massey), son David LaMoy (Rusty), son Michael LaMoy (Anne), daughter Mary Ellen Schellenberg (Philipp), son Patrick Pilotte (Marie-Eve), son Mathieu Pilotte (Kate), and son Aaron LaMoy (Dominique). He was extremely proud of his eighteen grandchildren Chase and Paige LaMoy, Quentin, Arden, Gabriel, and Ania LaMoy, Ivan, Chloe, and Breanna Schellenberg, Mathis, Natan, and Lydiane Pilotte, Angélique, Benjamin, Samuel, and Laurence Pilotte, Izek and Xavier LaMoy, and great-grandson Riley LaMoy.
Born in Ogdensburg, New York, he was the second eldest of nine children. Bill retired from the Bank of Canada after over 25 years of service, and he enjoyed spending time woodworking, camping and fishing. He will be dearly missed by his surviving sisters Betty Hitichings (Jim), Janet Downey and Mary LaMoy, brother Patrick LaMoy, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by brothers Bob, Gene, Malcolm and Hal, and ex-wife Betty (Elizabeth) Swift.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the dedicated and compassionate staff at the Revera Heartwood Long Term Care Home who cared for Bill during his time there. As expressions of sympathies, Memorial Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family. A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date.
