BIDWELL, Patrick Tracy
April 17, 1947 — March 6, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother Pat Bidwell on March 6, 2022, at Kelowna General Hospital.
Pat was predeceased by his father, Joseph; mother, Alvah; and brother, John. He is survived by his three brothers, Len (Karen), Bob (Debbie), Doug (Carla); as well as many other relatives including nieces Tamara, Karlen (Layne), Kendra and Abby, and nephew, Nathan (Tiffanie).
Born on April 17, 1947 in Athabasca, Alberta, Pat moved with the family to Kelowna in 1957. Then shortly after, in 1958, they settled on the Westside of Okanagan Lake, at an orchard in Lakeview Heights. After graduating from high school in 1966, he worked a number of jobs including the construction of new wings to Kelowna General Hospital, and retail positions at Eaton’s in Edmonton, Alberta.
In 1973, his passion for the great outdoors took him to the Northwest Territories where, for the better part of the next 20 years, he spent many summers working for the likes of Northern Transportation and Dome Petroleum, travelling around the north, and living in places like Inuvik, Tuktoyaktuk, Norman Wells, he even did a stint in Churchill, Manitoba. When the snow and ice blanketed the north, he spent many winters through those years either in Edmonton or with his parents in Lakeview Heights. Then in 1985, he purchased a property of his own on the Westside; at first, he lived there during the winters, then it became his year-round home after he left the north, around 1992.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful folks at Orchard Gardens, Dr. Joshua Nordine, and Kelowna General Hospital.
Private funeral arrangements will be made as per Pat’s request.
