Obituary
Beverly Melbourne passed away on April 9, 2022. Born in Verdun, Quebec on July 5, 1938, to William Stanley and Mary Couch. She is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years John Melbourne.
Beverly joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1958 and was stationed in St Hubert, Quebec, with 401 Squadron as an Accountant. She left the RCAF in 1964 and worked as an Executive Assistant for several Petro Chemical Companies. In 1986 she joined the Royal Canadian Air Force Association and held executive positions at wing, and group levels and was the Alberta Group Secretary from 1990 to 1998. Beverly was awarded the National Member of the year in 2000 and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002.
In 1995 Beverly became involved with The RCAF Benevolent Fund supporting Air Force veterans and veterans’ widows. From 2002 on she served as the National Chairperson of the Fund until is disbandment in 2007.
In 2000 she participated in the formation of the Air Force Museum Society of Alberta which became part of the Military Museums. She is a Founding Member and was made a life member of the Museum.
