Beverley Ola (nee Silva) Weeks
1941-2022
It is with great sadness that Bev’s family of Harvey, York Co.,
NB announces her passing on January 21, 2022 at the Dr. Everett
Chalmers Hospital. Born on August 5, 1941, to Charles Silva and
Elinor (Mitchell) Silva, Bev was raised with love by her maternal
grandparents, William and Ola (Stuart) Mitchell alongside Donnie and
Edna in Linden, NS.
Bev always loved returning to visit many cousins and friends on the
Amherst shore.
Bev and Ken built a life together and raised a family in Harvey
Station, where Bev’s love of community really shone. She
founded and co-ordinated Harvey Outreach for Seniors for 24 years and
it was indeed fitting that this organization, and its kind caregivers
helped support Bev’s life at home for the past few months. Thank
you, you’ll never know how grateful we are to you. Bev received
many awards including the Marion Stephenson Award for Outstanding
Contribution to Community Care and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee
Medal for her work with bettering the lives of New Brunswick Seniors.
After being appointed to the National Seniors Advisory Council, Bev
was presented with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal. Her
accomplishments in improving the lives of seniors make her family
immensely proud of her.
After retiring, Bev loved working at Lakeland alongside some of her
favourite people, teaching baking and just enjoying the company.
Crissy, Linda and Mike, thank you. But by far, her favourite position
was the one she had as a baker at Westphalia Bakery. Deanna and
Jessie, thank you for making her retirement years so happy.
She’s hanging out with Mike right now, bossing each other
around.
Bev is survived by her husband and 45s card rival, Ken, daughter Lisa
(Scott), son Allan (Wanda), special nephew Tony, stepdaughter Wendy
(Bill) and stepson Heath, sister Myrna, brother Frank (Myra), several
loved nieces and nephews, special chosen family of Melanie, Darrell
and Ben, special aunts Edna and Carol, brother-in-law John (Leota),
close friends and cousins who remember her fondly.
Bev’s pride and joy were her grandchildren, Autumn, Aaron,
Chelsea, Alix, Jordis and Kaitlyn, and great granddaughter, Cassidy.
Her hopes and dreams came true when this bunch came along. Always
remember how proud she was of you and how much you were loved.
She was predeceased by her parents, stepfather Ron, grandparents and
her beloved brother Billy (Barb).
Due to ongoing Covid restrictions there will be no service at this
time. Any donations can be made to Lakeland Industries in McAdam,
NB.
