Beverley Mae Joan Hartley Wednesday December 28th 2022

Hartley, Beverley “Bev”
It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Bev Hartley (aka the Queen of Dance) passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at the age of 85. Beloved wife of Robert Hartley. Loving mother of Margo Hartley. Proud grandmother of Brandon Smith (Elisa Snyder), Robert Smith and Alyssa Smith. Great-grandmother of Perrin and Eli Smith. Predeceased by her brothers Ray and Jimmy Lenton. Survived by her sister-in-law Sharon Lenton and brother-in-law George Hartley. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and their families.
Bev spent most of her life in Thunder Bay where she was secretary in the print department for Lakehead University. Bev’s real passion was teaching the love of dance to many. She taught dance in Winnipeg, Thunder Bay and especially enjoyed watching her daughter and grand-daughter carry on the tradition in Kitchener Waterloo. Bev lived out her last few years in the KW region where she was cared for by the amazing staff and nurses at Sunnyside Home. Bev was an amazing musician and could play many instruments but mostly known for her expertise in playing the accordion. Bev’s proudest moments were cheering on all the dancers at her daughter’s studio , Bojangles Dance Arts. Bev was fondly nicknamed JLO at Sunnyside for her love of bling and sunglasses and lipstick. Energetic to the end and always saying “EVERYTHING IS GREAT” she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Bev’s family will receive relatives and friends from 2:30-3:15 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2023 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St. Kitchener (519) 749-8467. Memorial Service in the Chapel on Friday at 3:30 p.m. Those unable to attend may view Bev’s service on Friday via the following live stream link:
