Betty Louanna Bowry 2022

Obituary
Born in the wee hamlet of Gelert, Ontario, Betty Louanna Stata arrived the youngest child of eight. Mom attended a one room schoolhouse. She spoke often of her fond memories and the many friends that she acquired throughout those years. There were just 50 families in this quaint farming community at the time. Everyone knew everyone. This childhood shaped her to become the hard worker, fun loving, and laughter seeking lady that she was. Mom could always find a Silver Lining in everything. Moving to Lindsay and working as a housekeeper for Dr. Parker also brought great rewards. As a result of her hard work, Mom was recognized as someone special, and Dr. Parker pay for her to attend Business College. Mom had the choice to study Nursing or Business College. Always thinking of others, Mom chose business college as it was less expensive. It was a hard decision for Mom to make.
After finishing college, she married Allan Bowry. Mom and Dad moved a Huntsville where she started working at the TD Bank and together, they opened Huntsville Sewing Center. Sometime later, they added “The Music Box” to their business. Mom was a beautiful seamstress, so she really enjoyed her time at the store. She loved helping people put together their plans for a dress, a gown, a set of drapes. It didn’t matter what it was, Mom loved to share her knowledge and help others.
From the time we were born, Mom provided us with lovely home sewn outfits. Mom made our beautiful wedding dresses, as well as grad dresses for the granddaughters with pride and perfection.
Together Mom and Dad worked hard, played lots, travelled often and made an incredible impact on their Bucket List.
Also, she was active in Kinettes, attended ceramics classes and in her not so free time prepared apartments for their next tenants. Mom worked hard and this is what made her dreams come true.
For years Mom as Al’s First Mate, they sailed to their many secret spots of Georgian Bay. Later in years, they spent winters in Florida and summers in Atlantic Canada. They loved music festivals and travelled far and wide to find and enjoy them.
Betty Lou passed away peacefully on October 29, 2022.
She will be forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
