Betty Kelm
1933 – 2022
Betty Anetta Kelm, beloved wife of the late Alf Kelm, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Monday, April 4, 2022, at the age of 88 years. Betty leaves to cherish her memory three children and their families: son, Brian (Kathy) Kelm of Calgary and their family, Mark Kelm and Rick Zurak; son, Blaine (Sabrina) Kelm of Medicine Hat and their children, Dennie (Kenton) Hamaluik (children, Edith & Arthur) and Annette Kelm; daughter, Lori (Mark) Irvine of Calgary and their daughter, Meg Irvine; siblings, Leona Leeks, Carol (Ray) Chartier, Joan Lanz, John Wagner, Bob (Pam) Wagner and Janet Lyon as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Alf and her grandson, Chris Zurak. Betty was born in Eatonia, SK. After marrying Alfred, they made their way to Medicine Hat where they lived most of their lives. She was known for her patience, kindness and good cooking. She enjoyed cooking German foods… a skill she passed on to her children. Her love of animals and her maternal, loving nature are traits that will always be remembered. Betty lived a good, full life, enjoying each day to the fullest while brightening the day of those around her. A private Celebration of Betty’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 3:30 p.m. with Pastor Murray Jastor officiating.
