Betty Kaufman
1937 – 2022
It is with heavy hearts that family of Betty Kaufman announce her sudden passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the age of 85 years. Betty was born on Monday, January 4, 1937, to parents Rupert and Libby Cann (nee Bassett) in Redcliff, Alberta. She grew up and lived in Redcliff her entire life, marrying the love of her life, Mainus Kaufman on May 16, 1962, at St Ambrose Church. Betty worked at Dominion Glass for 10 years and was a custodian at the Redcliff Legion as well as Margaret Wooding School for 22 years. A pet lover who enjoyed a good joke and had no filter, always kept those around her on their toes with her remarks. Betty loved animals and had many beloved pets throughout the years. She also enjoyed painting, camping, curling and volunteering with the Lionettes and with Meals on Wheels. Treasured memories include a trip to the Caribbean, Brandson and few trips to Las Vegas. Betty leaves to treasure her memory her son, Stuart Kaufman and daughter, Angela Lunseth (Calvin); granddaughters, Jennessa Kaufman, Tasia Kaufman, Hayley Lunseth and Tori Lunseth. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Mainus; sister, Margaret Duxbury (nee Cann); brother, Bill Cann; mother, Libby Cann and father, Rupert Cann. At the family’s request, Betty’s life will be celebrated privately by family and close friends at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations can be made in Betty’s name to the S.P.C.A., 55 Southwest Drive S.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 8E8.
