The family of Betty Fay Wood, wife of Deward Wood, sorrowfully announces her death following a brief illness on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst, at the age of 80.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Mike and Sadie (Westerburg) McLean.
Besides her husband of 60 years, Deward, she is survived by her children: Laura Lee Wood of Ottawa and Steven Wood of Bathurst.
Three granddaughters, Émilie, Maxine and Sophie.
Three brothers: David (late Norma), Kenneth (late Marie Jeanne) and James all of Bathurst and two sisters: Joan McLean of Montreal and Sandra Bard (late Danny) of Bathurst.
She is also survived by her stepmother, Isabel McLean of Bathurst,
sisters-in-law, Alice McLean, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers Robert, Don and a sister Jeanie Porter.
A funeral service will be held from Elhatton Funeral Home Chapel at 2 pm on Thursday, April 21, 2022. Masks are required to attend the service. Donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com).
