Betty Eugene Askew (Emory) born 29, November 1923 of Nelson, B.C. passed away 08, March 2022 at K.L.H.
Betty was born in Nelson along with her brother Bob. Betty attended Central School, Trafalgar, and Nelson High School. She went on to Dental Nursing at the University of Toronto. Betty worked in Creston and Nelson, before marrying Rick Askew and moving to the Village of South Slocan. They resided there for 50yrs. before moving to their home at Willow Point on the lake. Betty was active in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority as one of the founding members in Nelson, South Slocan Hospital Auxiliary, bowling in the ladies league at South Slocan, and had lasting friendships from the times in the Village. She was an avid skier at Silver King and Red Mountain. Betty enjoyed every summer for 90 odd years entertaining at the cottage on the lake. Betty and Rick loved to travel with ski trips to the US, and the Rockies, Europe, Hawaii, Mediterranean, and the Caribbean.
She is survived by her son Bruce (Bette-Lou), son-in-law John Pollack (Kathy), granddaughters Karrie Parent (Alain), Nicole Kirubi (Kihenjo) and grandson Ian Pollack. Great grand children Kai, Jaede, Maeve, Maya, and Jalen; nieces Janis and Lee Emory; nephews Graham, Ron, Wayne, Stephen, Jeffrey Askew, and niece Karen Askew.
Betty was predeceased by her parents Arthur Clyde and Vera Alice Emory, husband Rick Askew, brother Bob (Jean) Emory, daughter Maureen Pollack, daughter-in-law Lorraine Askew, and grandchildren Dawn and Tara-Leigh Askew and Michael Pollack.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kirsten for his many years of care and compassion, and the staff at K.L.H. and home support.
