It is with sadness the family announces the passing of (Margaret) Berniece Keindel on Dec 17, 2022 at the age of 90.
Berniece is survived by her sister Eileen Salmon (Patrick) of Calgary Alberta, sister-in-laws Claire (Bill), RoseAnne (Don) and Iris (John), and her 16 nieces and nephews plus many extended family members. She was predeceased but her parents William and Leonie Keindel, and her brothers Bill, John and Don and infant brother Philip.
Berniece was born in Saskatoon on July 25, 1932. She was raised in the Pleasant Hill area of Saskatoon where she attended St Mary’s elementary school and St Paul’s High School. She later attended the Essondale Nursing program in B.C where she received her Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing. She returned to Saskatoon and settled in the Pleasant Hill area once again. She enjoyed a career with the Province of Saskatchewan in Psychiatric Health.
Berniece was an active member of St Mary’s Parish, where she was a member of the CWL. She enjoyed volunteering with many activities in the church; fall suppers, craft and bake sales to serving the lunches.
Berniece loved to spend time playing bingo in her younger years with her Mom, and then going to the casino with her brother John. She was known to stop for an “ice capp” on the way out to the Dunes.
Berniece was very talented at crocheting, cross stitching and sewing. She would often be found selling her projects at craft sales or donating a prayer shawl or two to the church.
Berniece loved to travel with her Mom and sister in Law, there were many bus trips to Reno and Vegas plus countless trips to the family cabin at Jackfish, and road trips down east to see relatives.
The family of Berniece would like to thank Healthy Life Care Home for the care they provided during the last 18 months.

Vigil of Prayer will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 7:00 pm. followed by the the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 11:00 am. Both services will be held at St. Mary’s Parish, 211 Ave. O South in Saskatoon. The Rite of Committal will be held for immediate family at Vanscoy Cemetery.
