Deal, Bernice Mae – Age 88, Truro Heights. It is with great sadness that the family of Bernice Mae Deal announce her passing on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro after a brief illness.
Born in Bedford, she was a daughter of the late Alicia (Gibbons) & Arthur Fredericks. She was an adherent of the Truro Heights United Baptist Church. She was a homemaker all her married life and because of her love for children, she became a second Mom to many neighbouring children of working families.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Gary) Cain, Yarmouth; Blair (Norma), Salmon River; Paul (Linda Wenham), Lower Debert; and Anthony “Tony” Archibald (Juanita Whidden), Truro. She is also survived by six grandchildren; two great-grandsons; sister, Gloria (Charles) Manthorne; brothers, Ray (Honey), Wayne (Lorraine), Robbie (Janice) & Harvey (Debbie). She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, George; sister, Stella; and brothers, Edward, Clifford, Lorne, Irvin & Ralph.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date followed by interment of both she and George’s ashes at a private family gathering in the Truro Heights Cemetery.
If so desired, donations in her memory may be made to the Truro Heights United Baptist Church, 343 Truro Heights Rd., Truro Heights, NS B6L 1X7, or a charity of choice.
