Boudreau, Bernard Elias “Bernie”
It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend on February 26, 2022.
Born in Glace Bay NS on December 6, 1942,he was the son of the late Elias and Catherine (Snow) Boudreau of Coxheath and cherished husband of Connie (Stratton) Boudreau of Shannonville, Ontario.
Besides his wife, Bernie is survived by sons Andy, Darrell (Tracey), Bruce Way (Jennifer) and daughters Audrey McInnes (Bud), Kimberley, Janice Ingram (Todd), brothers, Michael (Linda), Francis(Bonnie), Raymond (Allison), and sisters Caroline Ross, Linda Johnston (Read)and Denise Richardson (Alan). Bernie was a proud and supportive grandfather to 21 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.
Besides his parents, Bernie was predeceased by Mother & Father-in Law, Bernice and Gerald Stratton. Daughter Patricia Way and son Bernie Elias Jr., Sister Dorothy Shaw and brothers in law Donald Shaw and Donald Fraser Ross.
Bernie was a proud member of the RCAF, serving in Germany and several air bases in Canada, retiring after 21 years of service in 1981 and settling in the Belleville area. Being a stamp and coin collector all his life, combined with his entrepreneurial spirit, he started a business called Frontier Discount Hobbies and then Frontier Gold Exchange, Frontier Securities and later Can Am Precious Metals.
Bernie cherished his visits home to Cape Breton, whether it was fishing in the spring at the cottage or the annual “Bobby Ross Day” celebration at the “Points”, West Bay. Fireworks were a big part of that celebration and Bernie provided the fireworks and the technical expertise to set them off. To everyone from kids to grown-ups, Bernie will always be remembered at the points as the “Fireworks Guy”.
A private family service will take place on May 28, 2022 at Victoria Cemetery in Plainfield, Ontario. Afterwards all Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Bernie’s life at the Royal Canadian Legion, located on Pinnacle Street, Belleville, Ontario from 1 PM to 4 PM.
Donations maybe made to a charity of one’s choice.
