Bernard »Bernie» Melanson
1949-2022
Bernard «Bernie» Melanson, 73, of Saint-Paul, passed away
peacefully, surrounded by his family, at home on Wednesday September
14, 2022.
Born in Moncton, Bernie was the son of the late Gerald and the late
Hélène (LeBlanc) Melanson.
Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Norma (Belliveau),
his three sons: Jeff (Lori) of Fredericton, Chris (Amy) of Mount
Stewart, PE and Jean-Michel of St-Paul, his mother-in-law; Auréa
Belliveau as well as several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in
death by his two brothers: Jean-Guy and Michel.
Bernie’s love of family, community, and music, which began at an
early age, took him on an incredible journey over his extensive
carrier. Bernie was the founding member of the Popular Moncton based
band the “Missing Lynks” and played with other fine groups
such as, Harvest, Well’s Fargo, “Bernie” and the
High Street band, just to name a few. Bernie used his musical ability
and talent over the years to give back to his community and others by
organising many fundraisers, such as, The Jerry Lewis Telethon, Care
Canada Kosovo Relief concert, Headstart Fundraiser Concerts just to
name a few
Bernie’s Professional life was one of innovation and was a
pioneer in in technology. He was owner of BLM Communications, (one of
the first cell phone providers in New Brunswick), Star Tech Satellite
and TV (one of the first Satellite Dish companies in New Brunswick.)
He then went on to Write TV documentaries, radio jingles, for such
clients as Reveen, Magic Mountain and NB Tourism. Bernie was also
the host of the popular 80’s TV Show Backstage, taught guitar
lesson and coached minor hockey.
Later in life, Bernie became an avid golfer and spent many hours at
Country Meadows golf club.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends and all those who
knew him.
As per Bernie’s request, there will be no visitation. A funeral
Mass will be celebrated at the Saint-Paul-de-Kent Roman Catholic
Church on Wednesday September 21, 2022 at 4:00 pm with interment in
the Chartersville Cemetery.
In Bernie’s memory, donations may be made to the «Le cancer
communautaire de Saint-Paul» or to the Extra Mural of Kent
county.
A celebration of life will be organized in November
