EVANS, BERNADETTE (NEE LAFOREST)
On April the ninth of 2022, Bernadette Evans passed away peacefully in bed at home.
She was born the eighth day of December 1933, the last of eight children and resided on Huron St.
in Toronto.
Trips to Kensington Market were common and a great affinity for movies was hers, so much so that she would go to see them by herself.
Mom married early and had five children of her own. She loved to cook, dance and really tried to sing.
Her home was always meticulously kept.
Mom was always employed but her final posting was with the optical department of Simpsons from which she retired after 20 years.
The bulk of her retirement years were spent in Wasaga Beach where she became a founding member and President of the Sunbirds Probus Club of Wasaga Beach. She was also a founding member of the W.B. ratepayers association who still maintain some of her suggestions. It would though, be safe to say that the most fun she had was with her ‘Red Hat’ ladies where she was the Queen Bee.
She had her share of adversity throughout her life but was possessed with an indomitable spirit which always kept her forging on. Always a smile or word of encouragement or a stern reprimand, both of which were greatly appreciated ultimately.
She is survived by three sons, Micheal, Billy and Steven and predeceased by her daughter Janis and son Johnny.
Proud Grandmother of nine and Great Grandmother of two.
Mom will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Beach Chapel, 509 River Road West, Wasaga Beach on Saturday April 16, 2022 from 1 p.m. for the Memorial Service in the Chapel at 2 o’clock. If desired, a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by Bernadette’s family. To sign her Book of Memories, please visit www.carruthersdavidson.com
