It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Berardino Tersigni on May 26, 2022, at the age of 86 years. Lovingly remembered by his wife, Restituta, daughter and son-in-law, Franca (Ed) and son and daughter-in-law, Jim (Nina); grandfather to Melissa (Joseph), Laura, Andrew, and Nicholas; great-grandfather to Emilia and Leo. He was deeply loved by his siblings, Antonio, dec. (Assunta, dec.) Mattia (Emma, dec.), Loreto (Maria), Mario, dec. (Vangi), Restituta (Rocco), Gino, dec. (Sis), and Vincenza (Carmen). He will be sadly missed by his additional brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many friends. Berardino has been reunited with his late parents, Vincenzo and Emilia.
Berardino, affectionately known as Bernie, immigrated to Canada in 1956 from Sora, Lazio, where he made a life for himself and his new bride and never forgot where he was from. He brought with him a great work ethic, a love of soccer, appreciation for good wine, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and went on many outings with his large family. For many decades he served as a founding member of Sora Club which was dear to his heart. He enjoyed reading his newspaper daily, listening and dancing to Italian music, and, in his later years, connected with family and friends through Facebook.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge (just west of Pine Valley Dr.) on Sunday, May 29, from 4 – 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 30, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. David’s Parish, 2601 Major MacKenzie Dr. W., Maple, ON. Entombment to follow at Glendale Cemetery, 1810 Albion Rd., Etobicoke, ON. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Ontario will be appreciated.
