Obituary of Ben Van Hoof
It is with broken hearts that the family of Ben Van Hoof announces his passing in his 80th year at University Hospital on Sunday January 9th, 2022. Loving husband of Geraldine for almost 55 wonderful years. Cherished father of Angela (Brad) Van Bynen, David, and Shawn. Beloved opa of Andrew (Savannah) and Eric Van Bynen, and Benno and Stellan Van Hoof. Predeceased by his parents Adrian and Theodora (Klomp) Van Hoof, parents in law John and Wilhelmina (Pretti) Van Dyk, and brother in law John Van Dyk. Survived by his siblings Ria (Leo) Vandendries, Paul (Julia) Van Hoof, Pat Croeze (Bruce), and siblings in law Hank (Annie) Van Dyk, George (Willy) Van Dyk, and Adrian (Wendy) Van Dyk. Ben will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Ben loved to dance and was always the last to leave the party. Ben loved to gather with his family and friends, and he loved to have a good time. He spent many hours gardening and spending time outdoors. Ben immigrated to Canada in 1958 with his family when he was just 16 years old. Ben worked in construction and as a bricklayer in the Strathroy area for a number of years.
Visitation will be held at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY on Friday January 14, 2022 from 12:00pm until 2:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at All Saints Roman Catholic Church on Friday January 14, 2022 at 3:00pm with a private interment to follow. Registration is required.
