BEDDOES Linda Estelle nee Poynter 2022

BEDDOES, Linda Estelle (née Poynter)
January 22, 1954 – December 14, 2022
With sadness we announce the passing of Linda after a brief illness at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, Alberta at 68 years of age.
Linda leaves behind nephews Gary Poynter (Marie) and Jerry Poynter, great nephew Braeden and great niece Carly, dear friends Kathy Mills (Jonathan), David Beddoes (Cindy), Bob Lorenz and Carol Ovans.
She was predeceased in death by her parents Jack and Tootie Poynter, her brother John and his wife Suzy, and her niece Rosemarie.
Linda was born in Cochrane, Alberta and attended school at Beaupre and in Cochrane. After graduating she worked for Alberta Transportation and Utilities for numerous years and also with the Victorian Order of Nurses in Calgary and the Bethany Care Centre in Cochrane.
Linda took her parents passion for the Appaloosa Horse to heart. Her family pioneered the Appaloosa breed in Alberta. She was a member of the Appaloosa Horse Club of Canada and successfully showed these beautiful spotted horses for many years. She also enjoyed numerous trail rides over the years with her close friends including a remarkable trek from Medicine Hat to Calgary. Although Appaloosas were her passion, a little white pony called Comanche stole her heart. Her and “Pony” took the show and trail competition circuit by storm. Linda also loved her Samoyed dogs and enjoyed dog shows and dog sledding with the family at the Hollowood Ranch in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains west of Cochrane. Linda was also known for making sure each of the horses had their own Christmas tree in their stall, dressing up the cats including making a cart for one of the family cats to pull around.
Linda was a long standing and dedicated member of the Ghost River Pony Club and the Beaupre Community Association.
In later years, Linda enjoyed attending concerts, going on trips on the back of a motorcycle, hitting the local watering hole with friends for an evening of dancing, off roading and camping. But more then anything Linda enjoyed being home on the Hollowood Ranch and taking in the serenity it offered.
If friends desire, a donation in Linda’s honour may be made to Bear Valley Horse Rescue or Frank Wills Memorial Society.
