Bax Goodyear passed away peacefully on the morning of December 18th, 2022, at the age of 73 years while surrounded by his family.
Bax will always be loved by Iris, his lifelong friend and wife of 40 years, by his two children, Paula and Brent, and their spouses Nick and Nicole. While Bax played many roles to many people over the years, the one that he most cherished was that of Poppy, and he will forever be fondly remembered by his four grandchildren: Sadie, Ellie, Hudson, and Miles.
Bax was born and raised in Monroe, where he could usually be found hunting, fishing, tinkering in his shed, or providing a helping hand to anyone who needed it. His life began in Monroe to parents Emilly (Stone) Goodyear and Victor Goodyear. After Victor passed, Emily’s brother Morley Stone stepped in to support Bax with the love and guidance that he would become synonymous with over the coming decades. Bax had seven sisters and five brothers, including Lester, who died in his infancy, and Bax thrived in his role as uncle to his nieces and nephews.
On any given day, Bax could be found having a game of cards with his friends, scratching away in a sudoku book, napping in his favourite chair, or giving his grandchildren a ride through the woods on his bike (and then inevitably fixing it after). He will always be loved and forever be missed.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville from 7-9 p.m. Service details to be confirmed.
Bax wishes to be remembered through the lasting impact he has had on others. That is why a portion of donations received will be given to Make-A-Wish Canada.
