On March 12, 2022, Erma Ruth Batke entered into the presence of her Saviour, Jesus Christ. She died peacefully at the age of 88 at the Grey Nuns Hospital, with her family surrounding her.
Erma will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, Daniel; daughter-in-law, Sharon, and her children Ashley (Brent) and their children Taylor (Katrina), Remy and Kobe, and Todd (Alissa); son, Dave (Michelle), and their children Amanda, Daniel, and Alex; daughter, Denise (Daryl) and their children Taylor (Darcy) and their daughter Sienna, Alyssa, and Kyle (Charlotte). She will also be missed by her sister, Gertie (Walter), brother, Ernie (Helen), sister-in-law Elke, sister-in-law Rita and brother-in-law Paul (Dorothy) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Harvey, as well as her brother Paul (Erma), and sister Mary (Rick), sister-in-law Tabea (Willy), brothers-in-law Benjamin, Adolf, and Rudy.
Erma was the epitome of a loving wife, mother, and Oma (grandmother). She loved her family fiercely and was always available to love and support one of her children or grandchildren. She was renowned for her gift of hospitality. Erma’s home was always open for a visit, some coffee and kuchen. She had a way to make people feel welcomed in her home. We will always remember and cherish the moments around the family table, laughing, talking, and enjoying a meal made with love. Most of all, Erma was a woman of profound faith, who trusted in Jesus and now has seen her faith realized as she has gone home to be with her Saviour.
