Obituary
STEVENS, Baschuk “Steve”
November 20th, 1925 – July 3rd, 2022
Passed away peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, in his 97th year. Steve was the loving husband of the late Lena Caroline Stevens (nee Clark). He will be cherished by his two children Howard (Wendy) Stevens, Helen (Terry) LeMay, 3 grandchildren Christopher Stevens, Jillian Wicken (Kevin) and Bonnie Stevens, 2 great-grandchildren Owen and Isla and numerous nieces and nephews. Steve is predeceased by his two brothers John & Fred Baschuk. Survived by his two sisters Anne Newman & Mary Trask. Steve was born in Poland, immigrating to Canada with his family at the age of 3, where Steve then grew up in Oxford County, N.S and met his wife in New Glasgow, N.S. They moved to Toronto in 1950 where he was a barber for many years. Steve switched career paths in the 1970s when he became a Canadian Customs Officer. He worked in Border Control for 17 years, until he retired. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his early years and after retirement spent most of his time fishing at the cottage and wintering in Florida. He moved to Applewood Retirement Home in Peterborough in 2017 after residing in the same North York home for 66 years. A private graveside service will take place at Highland Park Cemetery in Peterborough at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the PRHC Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated
