Barney Ivan Lee 2022

Ivan Lee Barney, of Barry’s Bay, Ontario, passed away suddenly from an unexpected heart attack on August 17th, 2022, at the age of 53 in Ottawa. Even though his failing heart took him away, his kind spirit will be fondly remembered by his family, friends, and community.
He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Barney (Feb 2021), and his mother, Martha Barney (Apr 2022). Ivan is survived by his sister, Stacey Lay and her husband Jason Lay, and their children, Alison (daughter) and Zachariah (son-in-law) Anderson, and Isaac Lay (son). Ivan spent his life pursuing the things he loved: music, business, travel, and connecting with others. Even as he faced health challenges and physical limitations, he always maintained a positive attitude and outlook for life and his future. Ivan was an accomplished pianist, conductor, composer, and music teacher. He left a lasting impression on those whom he performed for and instructed.
Ivan will be greatly missed, but we do not grieve as those who have no hope (1 Thes. 4:13), and we look forward with anticipation for a reunion in eternity.

  1. On behalf of Ivan’s beagle buddy and companion, Bracken, we would like to thank Ivan for his love and care of his friend. Bracken has settled into our family extremely well. He seems to be happy and loves us. It is easy to see that Bracken was loved and well cared for by Ivan and his family. We thank Ivan entrusting his beagle to us. We will do our best to live up to his assessment of us. Bracken and the Reid Family.
