Obituary of Barbara Rowsell
It is with immense sadness that the family of Barbara Mae Rowsell announce her passing on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022. Barbara was one of 10 children born to Hubert and Alfreda Keats of Grand Falls – Windsor, Newfoundland.
She is predeceased by her parents, sister Winnie (late John) and brothers Harry (Eileen) and Wally (late Mary). She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 64 years, Eric, sons Keith (Connie), David (Cathy), daughters Lynn and Kristine (John), seven grandchildren, Amy (Nathan), Stephanie (Andrew), Bradley (Keiona), Michael, Jessica (Mike), Kimberly (Jeremy) and Kyra, plus one little great-grandson Simon. Also, step grandchildren Sarah (Eric), Kyle and step great grandchildren Harrison, Owen and Paisleigh. Her siblings include brothers Ray (late Audrey), Don (Betty), Frank (Mary), Randy, and sisters Nita (Fred), and Marjorie (Mel), as well as several nephews and nieces.
Barbara was first and foremost a dedicated homemaker who cherished her family dearly. She was a born shopper with a weakness for accumulating lots of “treasures”. She liked to travel, especially to her native Newfoundland which she always called “home” and to where she motored during one stretch for 15 consecutive years from Ottawa.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses of Queensway Carleton Hospital for their care and compassion. In accordance with Barbara’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Plans are being formulated for a celebration of life service at a future date.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County would be appreciated
