Meyer, Barbara Jean (nee Hilker):
Surrounded by her family, Barbara passed away peacefully, after a courageous and fierce battle with cancer, at the Freeport Health Centre of the Grand River Hospital, on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at the age of 81.
Beloved wife of the late Alf Meyer (2011).
Loving mother of Allan (Kristine), Roger (Michelle), Paul (Sher), Mark and Kristi (Dave) Lavictoire.
Cherished Grandma of Caitlin and Dawson Meyer and Jocelyne and Rachel Lavictoire.
Dear sister of Hilda Hofstetter and David Hilker (Maria) and sister-in-law of Lilli (George) Sibley.
Barbara will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by her parents James and Annie (Anne) Hilker; mother and father-in-law Adolph and Emilie; brothers James (Jim), Bruce and Brian Hilker; sisters-in-law Aurelie Ferguson and Sheila Hilker and brothers-in-law Frederick (Fred) Sibley, Leonard Hofstetter and Harry Ferguson.
Barbara’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 5-8pm
Visitation will continue on Saturday November 26, 2022 from 2:30 followed by a funeral service to celebrate Barbara’s life in the funeral home chapel at 3:30pm. Cremation to take place. A reception will immediately follow the funeral service at the funeral home.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Knight and all the caring staff at the GRRCC .
Memorial donations to Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or the Grand River Hospital Foundation – Cancer Centre would be appreciated (cards are available at the funeral home).
