BARBARA JOAN YAKE
MAY 29, 1937 – APRIL 22, 2022
Peacefully, at Woodingford Lodge in Tillsonburg on Friday, April 22, 2022, Barbara Joan (Atkinson) Yake passed away at the age of 84 years. Beloved wife of her first husband Murray Yake (1997) and her second husband Joe Kuhl (2010). Proud and loving mother of Albert Yake (Cathy) of London, Jennifer Taylor (Brian Buis) of Tillsonburg and mother-in-law of Rick Smith of B.C. Cherished grandmother of Vanessa Black, Bryce Smith (Jorgean), Jared Smith, Dylan Taylor (Emily Verhoeve), Benjamin Taylor and great-grandchildren Paige, Brooke and Jackson Craig. Predeceased by her Daughter Angela Smith (2017), brother Billy Atkinson and her parents Clarence and Florence Atkinson and Lily (Potter) and Don Gerow. Barbara was an avid quilter and artist who also enjoyed Tai Chi. She was a member of the Eastern Star McDonald Lodge # 167 as well as a 50 year member of St. Paul’s United Church in Tillsonburg. Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 2:00 – 4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00 pm. The Funeral Service for Barbara will be held in Ostrander’s Chapel on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 11:00 am with Rev. Karlene Brown-Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at the Tillsonburg Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Brain Tumor Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
