Barbara Barbie Ann McIver 2022

Barbara “Barbie”‘s Obituary
Barbie McIver passed away peacefully at her home in Turkey Point, Ontario after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Sherm and (the late) Thomas P. McIver, QC and grew up on Brule Crescent in Toronto. Barbie was admired from an early age for her charismatic personality and her artistic talents. After graduating from St. Joseph’s College School, Barbie went on to be a buyer for Le Chateau in Toronto. She was a fashion icon and remained that way until the end of her days. Barbie also pursued a career with the Royal Bank of Canada and later with the Toronto Dominion Bank in Simcoe. In 1978, Barbie moved to Turkey Point where she excelled as an artist becoming well known for her original work with crafts. She established a wide circle of friends that brought joy to her life, but her greatest joy in life, without a doubt, was her daughter Katie Krabi. Barbie always took great pride in all of Katie’s accomplishments and cherished her time with her daughter. She loved her two grandsons, Alexander and Gordon with all of her heart. Barbie also loved dogs, good friends, good books, music and the arts. She will be remembered by all for her quick wit and her clever mind. Barbie is survived by her beloved daughter, Katie Krabi (Grant Woodcock) and their two sons Alexander and Gordon. She is also survived by her mother, Sherm McIver, Toronto; her brother, Bill (Ginny Terry), Bowmanville, Ontario; sisters, Patricia (John Green), San Diego, California and Gayle McIver, Spring, Texas; and brother, John (Virgie Noel), Toronto. She is survived by her niece, Claire Hiscock, Toronto and numerous cousins, extended family members and wonderful friends. Barbie is predeceased by her father, Thomas P. McIver, QC and her niece, Emily Hiscock. Barbie had an indomitable spirit. She has left us all richer for the time she spent with us. She would want us to all embrace life a little more, like she did, listen to a Pink Floyd song or stand at the shore and admire the sunset. Her spirit will live on in a lot of hearts from Turkey Point to Toronto to the shores of Ballantyne’s Cove in Nova Scotia. We are reminded of the words from the song Breathe by Pink Floyd:
“All you touch and all you see is all your life will ever be.”
Rest in peace dear Barbie. You have touched a lot of hearts and we are better for it.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday July 18th at the Second Sandbar in Turkey Point from 3PM to 6PM. All are welcome, at Barbie’s request please do not wear black. Arrangements are entrusted to the Ferris Funeral Home, 214 Norfolk St. S., Simcoe (519-426-1314). Online condolences may be made at www.ferrisfuneral.com
