Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend. Barb passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at North Cumberland Memorial Hospital in Pugwash. Barb retired in 2015 after 23 years in food and beverage service at Northumberland Links Golf course. Prior to that she worked at the Pugwash Co-op for 15 years. Barb loved her children, Vicki, Robbie & Paul dearly and took special interest in everything they were involved in. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, Daniel, Emily and Sarah and enjoyed many hours of face time (during covid restrictions) with them. Her eyes lit up every time they came to visit. She really enjoyed camping trips with Robbie, Shelley, and her grandchildren, along with the special times they spent visiting with her in Pugwash. She was loved dearly by her husband, John and over the past 27 years they spent much time together travelling, camping, visiting family, and just going for drives to see the countryside. A special trip for Barb was the time she and John went to England where she visited Buckingham Palace, toured London and experienced English tea served in one of England’s finest Tea Rooms. She also enjoyed trips to Dominican Republic to escape winter. Barb enjoyed bingo outings, playing cards and board games with her mom and dad. She was very close with all her sisters and brothers and enjoyed time spent with them catching up on what ever has been going on in their lives. Bonnie Bergman was a good friend to Barb during her time working at the Co-op and in recent years she enjoyed her visits from Tammy Brown who always made her smile and laugh. In her later years when her health had been declining, she really enjoyed sitting out in the garden surrounded by the roses and flowers that she loved so much that Vicki and John built for her. She was even caught patting and talking to Vicki’s dog Mya (she never liked dogs supposedly) while sitting out in her garden. She is survived by husband John, daughter, Vicki, son, Robbie (Shelley), son, Paul, cherished grandchildren, Daniel, Emily& Sarah, sisters Eleanor (Joe), Maxine (Arden), Vivian (Glenn) and Connie, uncles, Murdock (Jeanette), Hilton (Sylvia) Predeceased by parents, Lambert & Jean Patriquin, sisters, Thelda, Wanda, brothers, David and Gary. The family would like to thank all the medical personnel who were involved treating Barb over the three plus weeks of her hospitalization. A very special mention goes to Ashley Ernst from EHS for her care on two separate emergency calls. A special thank you to the medical staff in the ICU department at the Amherst Hospital and many thanks to Dr. Macfarlane and the nurses at the Pugwash hospital for all their kindness and care during Barb’s time with them. A celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, Dec 29 from 2 to 4 pm at Mundles Funeral Home in Pugwash. Donations can be made to the North Cumberland Regional Hospital Foundation.
