Babette (Betty) Marie Hamilton (nee Eichbauer), previously Gayford
June 19, 1923 – January 16, 2022
Born in Schönberg, Germany to Anna (Grüner) and Heinrich Eichbauer. Betty was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who lived a long and full life. It is with great sadness that we announce her passing as a result of Covid complications.
Reunited with her beloved husband Henry, she leaves behind sister Siegrid (Herman) Häupl and niece Ilse Röth, in Germany, sons Fred (Ginny) Gayford and Don (Brenda) Gayford, stepson Peter (Karen) Hamilton and stepdaughter Joan (Peter) Hamilton, as well as sister-in-law Shirley Bassett and grandchildren Cheryl, Mike, Christine, Darren, Carolyn, Judith, Victoria, John, Matthew and Mark. She is also cherished by many loving greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by stepdaughter Mary Wise and sisters-in-law Marg Tunis, Verna Allemang and Anna Flaherty.
Betty and Henry Hamilton were for many years a part of the Sheffield community and members of the Sheffield Presbyterian (now Kirkwall) Church. Betty also enjoyed the active community of John Bayus Park for several years. Gardening, needlecraft, crocheting and knitting always kept Betty busy as well as having the most organized house ever.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the team at Riverbend Place Seniors’ Community who made her final years the very best that they could. Everyone from the screening staff, personal support workers, nursing staff, recreation, dining room and administration staff, provided outstanding care during these difficult Covid times. We are extremely grateful.
