Audrey McLachlin nee Steventon 1923 2022

Obituary of Audrey McLachlin (nee Steventon)
It is with great sadness that we said farewell to our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Audrey McLachlin, at Caressant Care on Bonnie Place, on Thursday, February 3, 2022, in her 99th year. Wife of the James E. McLachlin (1980). Mother of John and Anita McLachlin of Whitby, Mary and Les Pamplin of Capalaba, Australia, Laura McLachlin, and Dan and Sharon McLachlin, all of St. Thomas. Grandmother of Paula McLachlin and Luke Rundle of Whitby, Stephanie and Clae Hodgson, and Angela and Michael Heath, all of Australia, Tammy, Cynthia, and Jason DeGraw (Michelle Riley), all of the St. Thomas area. Her sister, Margaret Ferris (late Joseph) predeceased her. Born in Vancouver, BC, August 2, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Isabella “Ella” Steventon.
Audrey moved to St. Thomas when she was married in 1945. Her long life gave our mother the opportunity to build memories with her treasured great grandchildren, a great great grandchild, and many nieces, nephews, and friends around the world.
Our mother loved family get togethers, travel, shopping, and lunches out. She was known best for her gift of baking and sharing with family, friends, and our workplace colleagues. Her Christmas Shortbread and Granny’s Brown Cookies were always appreciated.
In keeping with Audrey’s wishes, cremation has taken place. By appointment, relatives and friends will be received by the family for a memorial visitation at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas on Saturday, February 12th after 2:00 p.m. Please call the funeral home (519-631-1160) between 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. to register your name, telephone number and your time preference.
Due to Provincial COVID-19 restrictions, a properly worn mask is required, physical distancing will be followed, and attendance numbers will be limited.
A private graveside ceremony will be held at Elmdale Memorial Park, St. Thomas at a later date.
Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society or charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
The last few years were difficult for our mother as her health declined. A global pandemic was hard for her to understand. We are grateful to the staff of Caressant Care on Bonnie Place for the wonderful care they gave her over the last few years.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Audrey
