Obituary
Audrey Jean Littau (nee Prior) born November 15, 1929, in Kamsack, Saskatchewan, went to her final rest
in this system on Monday July 25, 2022 in Okotoks Alberta, after a very fulfilling life. She is survived by
her husband Harold, with whom she shared 75 years of marriage, and by her children and their spouses,
grand and great grandchildren: Daughters Joni (Raymond Woitte), Loretta (Jack Warren) and sons
Jonathan (Andrea Diedrick) and Rodney (Terri Lynn Noble). Grandchildren: Annalise (George Trautman),
Daniel (Morgan Cole), David (Tayla Litam), Jordan (Hugh Harvey), Tiffany (Scott Steeves), Jaime (Baylie
Knight), Cody (Rebecca Easton) and Janne Littau. Great-grandchildren: Luke Trautman (Brittany Cross),
Mylee Harvey, Emmett Harvey, and Tate Littau. And great-great-grandchild Callum Trautman.
Audrey’s parents moved to the Okanagan area of British Columbia during the difficult 1930s, scraping by
with farming mostly. During the war she played violin for dances in her father’s band. In 1947 she won “a
nice cup” at the Vernon music festival and on July 14 she married a “very handsome man”, Harold Littau.
In June 1948 Audrey and Harold were both baptized at the Vancouver convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses
and started “vacation pioneering” almost immediately. From this time another true love developed in
Audrey’s heart; the love of sharing the good news of God’s Kingdom with others (Matt 24:14) This
mutual love of their fellow man’s future moved them to begin preaching full time with their assignment
initially taking them to Kamloops, then St. Thomas Ontario and soon after the circuit work where they
would visit a circuit of congregations, to encourage and build up members of each congregation.
From here Audrey and Harold were invited to attend the Bible School of Gilead, graduated in 1953 (21st
class), and assigned as missionaries to Jamaica where they would spend most of the next 45 years, until
poor health forced them to return home to Canada. Audrey was challenged with rheumatoid arthritis
from her teen years, and this eventually took away her ability to play the violin and piano before she
reached 50. We all await the day we can hear her play again, a time “no resident will say I am sick”. Isa
