Obituary
Audrey E Jenson, beloved wife of Morris, passed away from pneumonia, Saturday, August 20, 2022. She was amazed to find herself in her 86th year, and she had been making plans for Morris’s 90th Birthday and their 68th wedding anniversary coming up in November. She enjoyed planning future events, and adventures, even though her health did not always let her follow through.
A longtime resident of Chemainus, BC, Audrey was born in Medicine Hat, AB, and lived most of her pre-retirement life near Eckville, AB. She loved to travel and while she never realized her dream of going to New Zealand, she and Morris did make it to many popular destinations within the US and Mexico over the years. They even visited a few more exotic places like the Philippines and Cuba in the 1970s. When Audrey passed, she had been living near, and enjoying her beloved ocean view, for more than a quarter century.
Audrey passed her quirky sense of humor and her determination to her two daughters: Debra Ann (Thomas) of Monroe, Louisiana, and Sandra Lee (Ken) of Calgary, Alberta. Audrey is survived by their children, her three grandchildren and their spouses: Lindsy (Mikael), Jeffrey (McKenzie) and Ian (Carley). As Audrey became a grandmother at the youthful age of forty, she also leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Noah, Gavin, Charlotte, Grayson, and Briggs.
Audrey is survived by her only brother Norman (Judy) and three of her brothers-in-law: Earl (Alva), Chris (Margaret), and Allan (Diane). She endured the loss of all three of her sisters: Marlene, Lenore, and Jeanette (Lou) as well as the tragic loss of her brother-in-law Paul. She had a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and second cousins some of whom she kept in touch with over the years and distance. Even if they had not seen her in a while, they were welcome to visit, especially if they were up for a game of cribbage. She may have had trouble shuffling the cards in recent years, but if her opponent would do all the shuffling, she was happy to beat them at a game or two.
Then besides consistently winning at crib, Audrey liked to watch sports. Baseball, hockey, football, golf, and curling were longtime favorites, and the games were often more fun to watch if a friendly wager was involved.
Whether it was learning Spanish, following politics, or mastering the perfect jellyroll, Audrey followed her curiosity and challenged herself. After a near fatal accident in her early 20s, Audrey overcame her disabilities to relearn how to walk, ride a bike, and drive a car. While her heart and mind stayed strong, her body started to slow her down, and her last few years were not as she would have wanted them.
