Athanasios Sgouros Saturday July 2nd 2022

With great sadness we announce that Athanasios Sgouros passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Mackenzie Health in Richmond Hill on July 2, 2022 in his 89th year. Beloved husband to Penelope. Loving father to Fotini (Frank) and Joanna-Maria (Nick). Doting Papou to Eleni Athanasia and Penelope Elianna. Dear brother to the late Stavroula, the late Georgia and the late Elias. Athanasios will be greatly missed by his extended family in Greece and the United States, and by his many friends made through his years of service to the Saints Panteleimon, Anna and Pareskevi Greek Orthodox Church in Markham. Born in Kalamata, Greece, Athanasios served as a pilot in the Royal Hellenic Air Force before moving to Canada in 1962. He will be dearly remembered for the love he had for his family and faith, his joy for life, his love for learning and his infectious smile.
Visitation will be held at Marshall Funeral Home 10366 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill on Monday, July 4 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Panteleimon Greek Orthodox Church 11323 Warden Avenue, Markham on July 5 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations to the Church would be appreciated.
