It is with great sadness that we announce our cherished Assunta Marocco, born January 17, 1936 in Terracina, Latina, Italy has peacefully passed away on the evening of January 21st, 2022. Beloved wife of (late) Aurelio, Loving and caring Mother to Anna Maria and her (late) husband Joseph. Precious Grandmother to Michael, (Custodia) Eddie (Stefania) and Lauren. Adored Great Grandmother to Ava, Michela, Gianluca, Joseph-Bruno & Chiara. Treasured sister to Renata, and her (late) siblings Adele, Lidia and Mimmo. Dear sister-in-law to Norberto and a devoted aunt and true friend to her extended family both in Canada and Italy.
Assunta loved unconditionally. Anna was the love of her life trusting her with everything. They were always together drawing enormous strength from each other. The love they shared was beyond measure.
Assunta’s greatest joys in life were her family, her faith and her garden. She was a woman of resilience, strength, courage, and stamina. She had a beautiful heart and was always generously willing to help others even if it meant putting herself last. Her experiences from her homeland in Terracina were carried over when she arrived in Canada in 1956. She began to once again cultivate her treasured garden as it meant her family would be taken care of every year for the winter months. She loved spending time with her loved ones by preparing feasts that were thoroughly enjoyed by all. As a devoted Catholic she always made time to attend daily mass whether it was virtual or in person.
Throughout her 86 years, she blessed us with wisdom, love, and encouragement to develop a strong work ethic. Devoted to her faith, Assunta will continue to bless everyone with her spirituality as she constantly instilled the power of God in all of us. It was and always will remain a true blessing to have had her in our lives. We will greatly miss her love and passion for those she loved. May she rest in eternal peace.
Visitation will be held at Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin St., south of Lawrence Ave. W.) on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Family and friends who wish to attend visitation must RSVP their time below by clicking the blue RSVP button. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Norbert’s Church (100 Regent Rd., north of Wilson Ave.) on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Private entombment to follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens.
