Obituary of Arthur Sweetapple
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Arthur Sweetapple, 82, announces the passing of their beloved father on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital.
Born in Glovertown, Newfoundland on August 14, 1939, he was the son of the late Edward and Mabel Sweetapple.
Dad spent his career caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse and was a damn good one. Dad was highly respected by his peers throughout his many years at the Emergency Department at the Burnaby General Hospital and at GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre from where he eventually retired.
Dad enjoyed spending time with family and those who knew him, playing the guitar, harmonica and violin and also enjoyed the great outdoors – camping, fishing, and boating. A true Newfoundlander!!!
Besides his parents, Dad was pre-deceased by the love of his life, Alice (2007), his brothers Herbert (Florence), Ed (Jean) and sisters Yvonne (Baxter) and Joyce (Wilfred) and a set of twins – William and Rose.
Dad will be forever remembered by his daughters, Gail (Clifford) and Sharon (Lloyd); his sons, Shawn (Tracey) and Todd; his sisters, Shirley, Violet (Phil) and Judy; his brothers, Calvin, Hubert (Rosemary) and Ray (Christine); his grandchildren, Andrew, Chris, Simon, Desiree and Aimee; his great grand-children, Raina and Juliana, as well as by several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank ALL the staff at the Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home for not only taking such good care of dad during the past four years but for making him feel like family. He called Spencer Home his “Home”. A thank you also goes out to the staff on the Family Medicine Floor – 3F of the George Dumont Hospital for the exceptional care and compassion given.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (506) 364-8188. In keeping with Arthur’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place in Glovertown, Newfoundland at a later date.
Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Arthur may do so to the Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Moncton SPCA or to the charity of one’s choice. On-line condolences and sharing of memories may be forwarded to the family through our website www.campbellsfuneralhome.com or by visiting the funeral home Facebook page.
