Theres a lot to say about our father. He had a colourful life for such a soft spoken man. He farmed in his youth on his family farm, growing crops and raising horses. After the war he opted for a second career with the railroad, starting out as a fireman shovelling coal, to eventually becoming an engineer, a job he took so much pride in. No need to wonder where his muscle and stamina came from. He became the oldest living C.N. pensioner in Canada. He eventually transferred to Brandon M.B. where he started his family and after living there for many years was again transferred, this time to Thunder Bay. He became involved in the sports we were interested in, he loved the outdoors and was more than happy to strap on a pair of skis, go fishing and work on cars. We were lucky to be able to share this life with many of our friends and neighborhood. It was an open door policy at our home. Along the way we lost the love of his wife Glenda and our mother. He was a father right through to great great grandfather. We were able to be beside him at the end, trying to give back the love and compassion he shared with us. He was a unique, once in a lifetime hard-working man. The world is less for his loss but we can do our best to honor and carry on for the next generation. He is survived by his daughter Adelle Bottos (Jerry), son Darrell Zilkowsky, son Paul Keating (Cindy), Tim Zilkowsky (partner Kimberly Bordignon), son Roger Zilkowsky, daughter Lisa Edwards (Earl), daughter Heather Rioux (Jen Doucet) We will miss you incredibly Iron Fist. There will be a luncheon in his honor Monday, May 9 at Sargent & Son Funeral home from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
